Connect your first data source (Gmail)
Authorize Gmail with read-only scopes, choose what to scan, and start your first sync.

Discovery starts from a connected tool, and Gmail is the best first choice: email carries the approval chains and handoffs that make processes visible.
Before you start
You need the Admin or Owner role in your workspace, and a Google account with access to the mailbox you want to analyze (a shared mailbox like finance@ works particularly well).
Connect
- Go to Connectors in the sidebar and choose Gmail → Connect.
- Approve the Google consent screen. ProcessTwin requests read-only scopes — it can never send, delete or modify mail.
- Choose the scope to scan: whole mailbox, specific labels, or a date window (the default backfill is 30 days).
- Pick a schedule — hourly, daily or manual — and press Finish.
What happens next
The first sync starts immediately. You'll see a live progress bar with item counts, and a run history entry when it completes. Detected signals (threads, approvals, recurring senders) appear in Discovery within minutes.
Privacy defaults
- PII masking is on by default: personal emails and phone numbers are masked at ingestion.
- Message bodies are processed to extract structure; you control retention in Settings → Security & data.
- Anything the injection scanner finds suspicious is quarantined and never reaches an AI agent.
Tip: connect Slack next — approvals that start in email often finish in chat, and the graph gets much more accurate with both.
